Misconceptions about Sustainable Finance in Emerging Economies

Sustainable finance and investment professionals from the Global North often express their well-intentioned views on the financing needs in emerging economies, however, they can overlook the importance of listening to what is really needed by people and business in these economies. Rather than asking ‘what can sustainable finance do for emerging economies?’ this discussion will reframe the question to ‘what do emerging economies need from sustainable finance, and how can we meaningfully include diverse perspectives?’.

Join Altiorem for a panel discussion led by Carlos Vargas Ph.D., a distinguished sustainable finance expert, as they explore the assumptions that the sustainable finance sector holds about emerging economies and the ideas challenging these assumptions. They will discuss how sustainable finance can better listen to and include the voices and perspectives of the Global South in investment and business decision making.
