Treasury is seeking feedback on its current proposals for implementing a Hydrogen Production Tax Incentive and Critical Minerals Production Tax Incentive (note: consultations closed on 12 July, but ASFI has been granted an extension). Both incentives form part of the Government’s Future Made in Australia package.

ASFI is pleased to share our final submission to the consultation below.

Consistent with previous ASFI policy submissions, we have focused our response on :

• the importance of credible social and environmental standards as part of eligibility criteria for the production incentivies (including through potential alignment with the Australian sustainable finance taxonomy), and

• meaningful incorporation of First Nations perspectives and considerations as part of the design and implementation of proposed production tax incentives.
