What is the Sustainable Finance Action Plan?
The Sustainable Finance Action Plan (2025–2027) outlines what is needed for the next phase of Australia’s sustainable finance agenda, translating a shared industry vision into a focused set of actions.
This plan builds on the Australian Sustainable Finance Roadmap (2020), where financial institutions, government and regulators came together, recognising that systemic risks like climate, nature and inequality need to be managed through collective action and laying out an ambitious plan to do that.
Since then, significant progress has been made, including the development of the Australian sustainable finance taxonomy, implementation of mandatory climate disclosures and progress on climate and nature policy in particular.
The Action Plan does not replace the Roadmap, but sharpens focus on the most critical actions needed between now and 2027 to mobilise capital, strengthen system settings, and embed sustainability into financial decision-making.
Importantly, this is not just a plan for ASFI, it is an industry-led, system-wide agenda.
The plan was developed in collaboration with financial institutions, government, regulators, civil society and First Nations stakeholders, and intended to be delivered collectively across the financial system.
