Department of Industry, Science and Resources has sought submissions to guide policy development to support an Australian green metals industry and contribute to a Future Made in Australia. Insights from the consultation will also inform the Australian Government’s Net Zero Plan, including the Industrial Sector Plan. This plan will consider the opportunities and barriers to decarbonising metals production.

ASFI is pleased to share our final submission to the consultation.

We have focused our response on :

  • the role of finance and investment in realising Australia’s green metals opportunities

  • the importance of credible standards to drive this finance and investment, and ensure aligned approaches by the public and private sectors, and

  • the need to elevate First Nations perspectives and considerations as part of the Australian Government’s policy agenda in relation to green metals.
