Submission to the Australian Government’s Green Metals Consultation
ASFI welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Department of Industry, Science and Resources’ consultation on green metals. By developing a leading green metals industry, Australia has a considerable opportunity to strengthen its long-term economic prospects, become a key player in the transition to net zero, and contribute meaningfully to global decarbonisation efforts.
To realise this opportunity, significant flows of investment and finance – together with a coherent policy approach that brings in key stakeholders – will be needed. Our submission therefore focuses on:
the role of finance and investment in realising Australia’s green metals opportunities
the importance of credible standards to drive this finance and investment, and ensure
aligned approaches by the public and private sectors, and
the need to elevate First Nations perspectives and considerations as part of the
Australian Government’s policy agenda in relation to green metals.
