ASFI update - ASFI's priorities for 2022
We hope you have all had a good start to the year, despite the challenges facing many parts of Australia.
After a break over the summer we’ve spent the last couple of months working through our strategy process. We now have clear priorities for ASFI in 2022, and we are very much looking forward to a constructive and productive year as we continue to work on implementing the recommendations of the Sustainable Finance Roadmap.
Strategic priorities
Following broad stakeholder consultation from November and February, we held our first Board strategy in mid-February focusing on how ASFI should focus its resources to achieve its mission. With further discussion and endorsement of our strategy in our first Advisory Committee meeting (more details below), I am pleased to share that ASFI will focus on four priority projects for 2022;
The development on an Australian Sustainable Finance Taxonomy
Supporting and contributing to a well-coordinated Australian voice in the development and implementation of the TNFD guidance
The establishment of a Leadership Forum, to be used as a mechanism to foster and develop leadership, driving forward implementation of the ‘Embedding sustainability into leadership’ recommendations of the Roadmap
Creating a framework around, and delivering, the Annual Progress Tracker Report
Advisory Committee
We have also constituted our Advisory Committee, an important of ASFI’s formal governance structure. We have APRA, ASIC and the RBA, as well as the NSW Government, all represented on our Advisory Committee, demonstrating the strong interest from Government in ASFI’s work. We are also pleased to include many organisations who have been instrumental in ASFI to date including PRI, RIAA, ClimateWorks, ICA, ACSI and IGCC with others also invited.
Our first meeting was held on the 8th March with very valuable input and discussion on ASFI’s strategy, approach to partnerships and the taxonomy project.
Website update
To complement our transition from initiative to fully established institute, we are excited to share that today we have launched our new website. Please have a look and let us know what you think.
Getting involved
As we start work on our priority projects, there will be many opportunities to get involved. We will be calling for involvement from all members of the financial services sector and complementary industries through our LinkedIn and our mailing list, so please keep an eye on these in the coming months if you’re keen to contribute to any of our priority projects.
We look forward to working with you this year, in the meantime please feel free to reach out to us at any time via info@sustainablefinance.org.au
Yours sincerely
Kristy Graham, Executive Officer
