Australian Taxonomy-aligned Debt Guidance: Issuing use-of-proceeds debt

First of its kind guidance on applying the Australian Sustainable Finance Taxonomy to use-of-proceeds debt.

This guidance sets out how the Australian Sustainable Finance Taxonomy can be used to inform use-of-proceeds debt instruments including, but not limited to, bonds and loans.

It provides practical direction to establish a common understanding between issuers, external reviewers and investors regarding the taxonomy’s application in use-of-proceeds issuances, supporting consistency and comparability in Australian sustainable debt markets.

The guidance outlines:

  • how the Australian taxonomy can be applied to use-of-proceeds debt;

  • considerations for issuers, investors and external reviewers related to the application of taxonomy criteria;

  • the Australian taxonomy’s alignment with existing labelled debt standards and frameworks

  • how to disclose alignment against the Australian taxonomy in labelled use-of-proceeds issuances to support consistency and comparability across the market
